What families ask us

Do you take my insurance?

We are out of network, so we do not bill insurance plans. We can send an itemized receipt for you to send to your plan, and many plans pay back part of the cost. We are not enrolled with Medicare or Health First Colorado.

What is a superbill, and can I use it?

A superbill is an itemized receipt that you can send to your plan with its claim form to ask for reimbursement. Your plan decides whether it pays anything back, and a superbill may be reimbursed only in part. It carries a diagnosis code your plan will see.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to a written estimate of the cost before your first session. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract. We give you one before you start.

How much does it cost, and how do fees work?

Your fee depends on the clinician and the length of the session. We give it to you in writing before you start, and a limited number of reduced-fee spots are set aside. The page on how fees work explains the rest.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. We take HSA and FSA cards like any other card. Your plan's rules decide what it covers, and we can give you a receipt for it.

What happens in the first session?

You and your clinician talk about what brought you to ask for help, how the sessions will work, and where privacy has limits. You decide at the end whether to continue. You can read the whole page on your first session.

How often do we meet, and for how long?

Individual sessions are 50 minutes and couples and family sessions are 80 minutes. How often you meet, and for how long, is decided together week by week. We do not promise a number of sessions.

Are you licensed where I live?

We are licensed in Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. You need to be in one of those states during a video or phone session. Each clinician's license is listed at the foot of every page.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, any time; for Spanish, press 2 or text AYUDA. In an emergency, call 911. This site and our voicemail are not monitored around the clock.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows. The limits are few: a risk of serious harm to you or someone else, abuse of a child or an older adult, or a court order. We explain them in writing before you begin.

Can you see my teenager, and how does consent work?

Children and teens join family sessions with a parent or guardian. We do not see a child or teenager alone. Colorado has its own rules about when a young person can agree to therapy, and we explain them if the question comes up.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session. We explain the policy in writing before your first session, and we understand that a shift, a storm on the pass or a sick child can change a day.
